Robert Burns Day and Visit to see Dippy the Diplodocus 2019
The children were busy having fun learning about our Scottish National Poet Robert Burns, they had fun learning about Robert Burns on the smart board, as the children had asked to see what he looked like! We then read To a Mouse and enjoyed making their plate of Haggis, Neeps and Tatties arts, as well as designing their own poems with teabags with a feathered pen, they then went to visit the Robert Burns Exhibition as well as Dippy the Diplodocus at the Kelvin Grove Art Galleries Museam, and then they had delicious snacks as well as some tasty Vegetarian Haggis, Neeps and Tatties! Yum Yum!
RSPB Bird Watch 2019
We were very lucky to have a visit from some RSPB volunteers during bird watch week. They read us a story about where all different birds live, and then we went to the park to discover some bird habitats and mini beasts, well why not! We found a blue tit, two magpies and a robin red breast as well as some tiny bugs!
New Football Class 2019
We have started a football class on a Monday with the talented coach Steve, the children have enjoyed learning new skills, during the fun physical class, using their fine and gross motor skills and practicing their coordination!
Green ECO Schools Flag School Award 2018
So proud to announce we have received our Green Eco Schools flag award, the children have been very busy keeping our local park clean, working with Glasgow City Council, recycling all our paper, batteries as well as planting, growing and eating our own produce, our own worms feed our soil and recycling loose parts to be creative in our outdoor space, we even have non paper backdrop displays, lots more still to do! Well done Eco Warriors!
December was full of exciting fun experiences as we waited for Santa to come and visit. The children enjoyed writing letters to Santa, putting up their own Christmas tree, our weekly French and Dance class, baking, designing our Christmas bags to take home all our of our Christmas activities the children had made as well as singing at our annual Christmas Carol Concert and Christmas party and don't forget the magical visit from the reindeer's. Lots of fun!
The Ceilidh 2018
What fun the boys, girls, parents, grandparents and staff had at our annual celebration St Andrews Day Ceilidh 2018, the children have been very busy practicing The Gay Gordon dance and rehearsing for their singalong to Ally Bally Bee!
Halloween Spook-tacular fun party, the children enjoyed making their own spooky spiders, mummies and skeletons, carving our pumpkins outdoors, visiting the museum to see real life mummies and skeletons, as well the as a Halloween numeracy challenge with our Leader of Early Learning, and then the party, Graveyard bumps, Pin it on the pumpkin, Wrap the Mummy and bobbing for apples, followed by delicious trick or treats!
Play on Pedals 2018
Play on Pedals runs from March till September and is an excellent gross motor skill experience as children learn to master the skill of cycling.
Loose Parts Play-The Children's Woods 2018
Our children have an amazing time every Tuesday at the natural environment Kelvin Meadows Woods, this mature woodland enables Loose Parts Play for the children to create richer environments for our children to play, giving them the resources they need to do what they need to do. Children need environments they can manipulate and where they can invent, construct, evaluate and modify their own constructions ideas and take risk through play.
From our own garden to plate! The boys and girls have been busy planting, and watering and feeding our home grown potatoes from our very own wormy, at harvest, we played games find the potatoes, washing them together, counting them, cutting them, preparing them for the oven and finally enjoying our own sustainable home grown delicious roasted tatties!
City Beach 2018
Summer, City Beach, sand in our toes, hanging out, having fun, making sand castles, discovering starfish and so much more....
We are artists 2018
Summer Sunflowers, we planted our own sunflowers and watched them grow, we painted the sunflowers using all different stencils including our fingers as we investigated pointillism and read some books on Katie and the Sunflower and we learnt about the famous Sunflower painting by Vincent Van Gogh, we even wet to visit the local Art Gallery museum to see his own portrait! Who new sunflowers were so interesting!
Safari Park Adventures 2018
Safari 2018, it was growling fun, lots of delightful sunshine as we had fun hanging out with wildlife, lazy lions, shy tigers, cheeky chimps, smart sea lions and so much more! Don't forget the delicious ice creams and lollies, it was so warm even the chimps had lollies!

Sport's Day 2018
- Everyone was a winner at our annual Sports Day event 2018, It's the taking part that counts and Clairmont Gardens sure knows how to win races and enjoy ourselves!
Easter Hunt 2018
The boys and girls, parents and siblings had a smashing time at our annual Easter egg hunt, they had six clues as they young explorers dashed to find the Easter Bunny as well as a jolly old roll the egg down the hill!
Chinese New Year 2018
Chinese New year started with a bang and early at Clairmont Gardens, as the children were learning and celebrating Chinese New Year, Year of the dog, they were making their own drums, had fun dressing up in traditional Chinese clothes, designed their own fans, had fun mark making with chopstick, as well as having fun with numbers, noodles and chopsticks and not to forget their own dragon they made and paraded around the nursery, and a big thank you to the Bank of China, who invited the children to watch their annual parade as well as gifting the children real Chinese money for luck!
St Valentines Day 2018
What fun the children had celebrating St Valentines Day, they designed their own Valentines day cards, listened to a short story of St Valentine had fun Reggio Emilia style as we set up classroom as a art studio and we drew and painted our own red roses for all our budding Charles Rennie MacKintosh, the children had fun learning about Charles and his famous Rose and how it can be seen all over Glasgow, they also did a science experiment and changed our roses into rose water! Magic!

People who help us, Doctors, Nurses and Dentist!
After consultation with the children, the children wanted to learn about their body and people who help us, they were having so much fun learning about people who help us, they made a role play area as a doctor and dentist surgery, they were very busy looking after their own bodies and teeth, they constructed their own X-Ray machine, as well as enjoying counting their teeth game!

There is no business like snow business, the children at Clairmont Gardens enjoyed the best of snow in January, there was snow angles and lots of sledging followed by days of hygge and delicious baking scones!

St Andrews Day

Halloween Spook-tacular fun party, the children enjoyed dressing up, fun Halloween French lesson with Ms Annie and some frogs, Zombie statues, Graveyard bumps, Pin it on the pumpkin, Wrap the Mummy and bobbing for apples, followed by delicious trick or treats!
October 2017 - Diwali
The children were learning about world religions and the story of Diwali, the children made their own lanterns, as Diwali is the Hindu festival of light, they also enjoyed visiting the local Hindu Temple to see the gods from the story.
September 2017 - Children's Wood
We enjoyed exploring the Children's Wood, at Kelvinmeadows. We investigated the pipes, to roll balls. We made witch's brew with water, mud, and berries, and we enjoyed swinging and balancing on the tire swing!
September 2017 - Campfire fun!
The boys and girls were very safe when making their own fire! We used; sticks, cotton wool, and Vaseline. Everyone was very safe and knew to stay a safe distance away. We even enjoyed some lovely, toasted marshmallows!
September 2017 - Fred Paton Care Centre
Visiting the elderly at their day centre was lovely. The children introduced themselves, and were very polite. Some of the ladies joined in with the parachute game, as well as singing lots of songs. Everyone enjoyed themselves!
August 2017 - RSPB Visit
We were very lucky to have a visit from some RSPB volunteers. They read us a story about where mini beasts live, and then we went to the park to discover some mini beasts. We found a tiny snail, bees, butterflies, and we did a rain dance to find some worms - and it worked!
