CHECK AVAILABILITY

We specialise in young babies to three years

At Fitzroy Place, we offer free extended settling in sessions for all children, which we base on the needs of the child and the requirements of the parents. Our vision is to ensure we have happy, engaged, confident, curious, creative, independent, resilient, and empathetic children. We are able to do this as we offer an environment which is supportive, responsive, and sensitive to the needs of our families.  The staff at Fitzroy Place focus on the care and development of each child as the unique individuals they are.

Practitioner qualifications range from SVQ3’s in Early Years to BA’s in Childhood Practice, with staff also mentoring future  practitioners through their modern apprenticeships. Staff continue their professional development with continuous training which keeps them informed on the best practices for the under three’s age group.

Promoting choice in all aspects of their day children are encouraged to explore, investigate, and discover at their own rate, according to their own interests, with staff always on hand to extend and promote their learning and development. At Fitzroy we are big advocates for outdoor learning for all the children in our care.

From here, when the children turn three, they will transfer to our own Pre-School centre at Clairmont Gardens where they specialise in children aged 3-5.

Baby Room

Photo Gallery
Our Baby Room is bright and welcoming. All the resources and equipment made available to the babies promotes creativity, coordination, manipulation, language development and sensory stimulus, in line with our vision to further enhance the baby's natural curiosity in the world around them.

At their appropriate stage of development babies are also introduced to sensory play such as jelly, gloop, paint, glue, sand, and water play.

Being within close proximity to Kelvingrove Park our babies explore outdoors daily to further promote their curiosity in the wonders of nature.

We have our own Sensory Room for the babies, which they have regular daily access to. Here the children can enjoy exploring a variety of textures, lights, and a wide range of heuristic play experiences with natural resources.

Toddler Room

The toddler room is made up of two large playrooms for the children to explore.
Staff in the toddler room strive to create a warm, friendly, welcoming and stimulating environment within the room with opportunities for the children to explore and discover.

The children in the toddler room have access to resources which they will find more challenging to encourage, promote and develop their learning such as large building and construction resources, materials, dressing-up, jigsaws and shape sorters, imaginative and roleplay.

The children have the opportunity to regularly take part in creative and  messy activities which encourages curiosity, expressiveness, independence and promotes social skills.
Again the children within the toddler room also have daily opportunities to explore their environment outdoors and the local community as they visit Kelvingrove Park, the library or visit Kelvingrove Art Galleries.

Tweenie Room

The Tweenie Room is spacious and bright. The Tweenie Room is set up with resources which allows children to choose their own learning experiences but also cover all areas of the children's development, this makes it flexible enough to adapt to the children's ever-changing interests.

The curriculum within the playroom revolves around the unique child, encompassing their needs and interests. Throughout the day staff will observe and extend  children's developmental needs and interests and will adapt with the children as and when required.

The Tweenie Room is lively and the children are surrounded by conversation and new language on a daily basis allowing the children to develop their communication and social skills.

The Tweenies have a great love for all things outdoors, enjoying daily opportunities to be active in the great outdoors, spending time exploring and discovering the wonders of nature in Kelvingrove Park and local pitches.

The Tweenies are very active participants in having  lots of fun planting flowers, fruit and vegetables in the garden, and then preparing and eating them for snack.

Prior to turning three, a staff member from our 3-5 setting will come to introduce themselves and get to know the children before they transition. During the week-long transition here, a member of the Tweenie Room staff will accompany the children to Clairmont to ensure they settle into their new surroundings with ease.
