Somerset nursery is a well established, family run children's nursery which has been operating for over two decades in Glasgow's City Centre and West End.
Somerset Nursery has earned an excellent reputation over the years for its high standard of professional childcare.
Since the early 1990's Somerset has grown from a single nursery to a multi-nursery company with nurseries in and around the Glasgow area.
The children of Somerset Nursery have close links with the local community and often visit places in the community such as the Mitchell library, Kelvingrove art galleries and the local parks where they develop their gross motor skills, social skills and are able to explore their environment- with an emphasis on outdoor learning opportunities. Our children are natural nature detectives and show high levels of engagement when we; make bird feeders, go on mini beast hunts, go litter picking in our local community, plant seasonal vegetables in our gardens, go on nature detective walks and do den building.
We operate an open door policy in addition to offering two parents meetings per year which allows parents to have in-depth conversations with their child's key worker to discuss their learning and development. Our Learning Journals system allows us to record children's development in their own unique profile which parents can interact with by adding photographs from home, events happening at home and milestone occasions. This profile follows the child right through to school age.
Extra Curricular Activities
Extra curricular activities are offered throughout the year across all of the nurseries with no additional charge to parents.
The children take part in weekly dance classes, gymnastic sessions and football/ball skills lessons which will resume when current guidelines allow us to.
At our annual graduation concert the pre-school children perform their new found dance and drama skills, which parents are invited to.
In the summer we hold a sports day which parents are invited to take part with their child.
We hold an annual ceilidh, which parents are also welcome to and encouraged to join in with their child.
Every year we have a Christmas party with a very special visit from Santa and his reindeer.
