About us

The children of Somerset Nursery have close links with the local community and often visit local places such as the Mitchell library, Kelvingrove art galleries and the local parks where they develop their gross motor skills, social skills and are able to explore their environment. Our children are natural nature detectives and show high levels of engagement when we; make bird feeders, go on mini beast hunts, go litter picking in our local community, plant seasonal vegetables in our gardens, go on nature detective walks and build dens!

We operate an open-door policy in addition to offering two parent meetings per year which allows parents to have in-depth conversations with their child’s key worker to discuss their learning and development. Our Learning Journal system allows us to record children’s development in their own unique profile which parents can interact with by adding photographs, events happening at home and milestone occasions. This profile follows the child right through to school age.

Events & Extra Curriculum activities

A variety of extracurricular activities are offered throughout the year across all nurseries with no additional charge to parents.

The children take part in weekly dance classes, gymnastic sessions, football/ball skills lessons and our annual graduation concert allows the pre-school children to perform their newfound dance and drama skills to their peers and parents.

In the summer, we hold a sports day and annual ceilidh which parents are invited to take part with their child.

Every year the children look forward to a Christmas party with a very special visit from Santa and his reindeer!

Don’t just take our word for it

“Our daughter had a fantastic time in the baby room and then the toddler room. The staff were all very friendly and developed a close relationship with her. They were good at keeping us updated and responsive to her needs as she grew up. We really appreciate their trips to the park, museums, the Chinese New Year parade etc.”
